We work in tandem with the hospitals and Ministry of Health located in Guyana, South America.

Our Work

Direct Relief 2.png

Since 1984, in partnership with a non-profit entitled Direct Relief (DR) of Santa Barbara, California has aided in this endeavor. Each hospital provides a list of needs which is sent to Direct Relief so that only needed medical supplies and equipment from various companies and health organizations are packaged and shipped.  Our representative in Guyana assists in the receipt and distribution of all shipments.   To date millions of US dollars of equipment and supplies have been provided to Guyana with the help of this devoted partner. This partnership has grown from the support of  2 (in 1984) to 8 hospitals and including satellite health facilities and clinics. This decades-long partnership has helped us do so much good in Guyana.  Upon receipt of goods, communication between the Committee Members in Los Angeles and Hospitals in Guyana and DR verify the delivery.

If there are other organizations that would like to partner with us in a similar regard click here.

Beginning in 2011, we have partnered with TOMS Shoes allowing us to supply Guyana’s children with footwear for Grades 1 to 12. This is an annual contribution and we hope to cover all the Regions of Guyana on a continuous basis.

VIA Clinic

clinic.jpg

We have funded 4 clinics at Bartica, Mahaicony and Charity hospitals. Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) of the cervix has proven to be a relatively inexpensive and successful method of identifying cervical abnormalities associated with cancer. The main purpose is early detection and treatment to prevent the onset of cervical cancer. The VIA clinic was an obvious need as cervical cancer is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide, a range Guyana falls within. The positive rate of the VIA test is approximately 12.5%, which demonstrates the need for these clinics. To date we have built 3  VIA clinics, in Mahaicony, Bartica and Charity.
