Shipments to Hospitals in Guyana
Since its inception, Guyana Medical Relief have been committed to providing Medical Supplies and Equipment to a number of Hospitals in Guyana with the fundamental goal of supporting Guyanese in Guyana by assisting in reducing the overall Healthcare costs in our birth land.
The hospitals that are direct recipients of shipments of medical supplies and equipment emanating from GMR’s effort are:
- Linden Hospital - Bartica Hospital - Suddie Hospital - Mahaicony Hospital
- St. Joseph Mercy - New Amsterdam Hospital - Davis Memorial Hospital - Port Mourant
GMR’s primary partner that helps it to achieve its goals is Direct Relief International (DRI). We are also proud to receive support from wide a range of caring individuals hailing from Guyana, other parts of the Caribbean as well as a number of non-Guyanese and non-Caribbean supporters throughout North America.
Other Healthcare Projects in Guyana
In addition to its Hospital support activities, conditions on the ground demand that GMR expand its medical support activities. Other areas of Healthcare support in Guyana that GMR has embarked upon include:
Stemming the Tide - Key Points
- A program run by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, to diagnose, treat and care for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
- It is free and has no governmental funding.
- Emphasis on testing pregnant women to prevent transmission of the disease from mother to child
